Capt. Matt, the owner and operator of Wise Kraken Charters, has been fishing for as long as he can remember. His first trusty vessel was a 12′ aluminum dingy with an 8 HP outboard engine, but he outgrew it and began working as a deckhand on party boats in Galilee, RI in his teens. In 2011, he became a captain, earning his USCG Master’s 100-ton Captain License. None of this has dampened his fervor to fish. When he’s not working on a fishing boat, he’s fishing – in the local salty waters, or on any frozen pond or lake if the winter seas are uncooperative. For Capt. Matt, fishing = life.
Today, he’s living his dream (earning a living by doing what he loves) aboard the 50′ “Stella Marie” – sharing his passion, experience and expertise in fishing the waters south of RI with anglers of all ages and ability levels. Who better to take you out for an unforgettable day of fishing?!

“Stella Marie”
The 50′ downeast style “Stella Marie” was custom built by Evans Boats Inc. in Maryland, designed to be a fishing workhorse for Wise Kraken Charters. She boasts twin Cummins engines (which help her cruise comfortably near 20+ knots) and a spacious 21×16′ cockpit with ample rail space for anglers. But the “Stella Marie” features some creature comforts, too, including an enclosed cabin (heated) that contains a booth, three comfortable bunks and a well-equipped head, as well as the helm where Capt. Matt works his magic.
Fishing aboard the “Stella Marie” is a joy, thanks to her stability and well-designed fishing platform. She is U.S. Coast Guard inspected and licensed to carry twelve (38) passengers on exposed waters.
